Six Unscheduled calls to Grand Bahama in May

Hutchison Port Holdings announces that six (6) unscheduled calls have been requested for the month of May for Grand Bahama. These Carnival vessels were expected to go into Mexico. Expected cruise dates to Grand Bahama are:

? Tuesday, May 5th Fantasy ? Thursday, May 7th Holiday ? Wednesday, May 13th Fantasy ? Thursday, May 21st Holiday ? Monday, May 25th Holiday ? Tuesday, May 26th Fantasy

Harbour Director Orlando Forbes said 'The sustainability of cruise ship visits to the island was the focus of the construction effort that began in November of 2008 on berths 4 and 5. 'The Cruise Industry is a key source of economic activity to the northern regions of the Bahamas, particularly the island of Grand Bahama where over the years the island has emerged as a destination of choice due to its rural charm and close proximity to cruise ports off the east coast of the United States.

'The work had an economic focus of positively increasing vessel traffic to impact tourist arrival numbers and providing for increases in domestic services,' said Mr. Forbes.
