Hutchison Port Holdings Limited’s (HPH) Bahamas Terminals Conclude Beach Clean-up Campaign
[Freeport, Grand Bahama Island, 22 September 2014] - Following a successful recycling initiative launched on 19 September which included terminal clean-ups and recycling campaigns, Freeport Container Port (FCP), Freeport Harbour Company (FHC) and Grand Bahama Airport Company (GBAC) wrapped up their participation in the joint environmental campaign launched by parent company Hutchison Port Holdings Limited (HPH) and DP World under the banner “Recycling Begins & Ends With You”. FCP, FHC and GBAC took part in a beach clean-up on Xanadu Beach in Freeport and Lover’s Beach in Eight Mile Rock on 20 September.
The “clean-up” team consisted of employees from all three business units as well as family members. A team from the Bahamas National Trust provided assistance with the collection of the large amount of debris found on the beaches.
Approximately 200 bags of garbage from both Xanadu and Lover’s Beach were collected weighing roughly 3350 pounds.The joint HPH and DP World environmental initiative is designed to strengthen the commitment shared by both companies to minimise the impact their activities have on the environment and to maximise the benefits they can bring to the communities in which they operate.
