The A-Team's quest to four-peat at Container Port Basketball Tournament

The sixth annual Freeport Container Port Interdepartmental Basketball Tournament tipped off Thursday evening at the Jack Hayward Gymnasium and the "dream Team" of the Hutchison Port Holdings are the three-time defending champions.

"It was a very competitive tournament," said tournament organizer Trevor Smith following last year's tournament.

"One of the players told me this was the most fun he ever had, because he never played organized ball before; the trophies and the awards meant so much to the players and for what we went through these past years, this tournament meant a lot."

The Tournament field includes teams from the Grand Lucaya Hotel, the Grand Bahama Airport Company Limited, The Lucayan Harbour and the Freeport Container Port Limited.

"This tournament is good for the company because of what we went through this year with the three tragedies," Romeo Butler said about the tournament in 2010.

"We know we can't replace our fellow comrades, but the fellowship and camaraderie was good to get our minds off the past few months in a clean competition."

Butler was alluding to the shock and horror over the tragedy at the Freeport Container Port (FCP) on March 29, 2010 resulting in the death of three employees and the injury of others as a result of a tornado and just recently in July 2012, Lester Smith died in a fatal industrial accident.
